Traditional Ashtanga Yoga – Mysore style

What is Ashtanga Yoga

 The practice consists in five series:

  • First series: Yoga Chikista – detoxifies and aligns the body
  • Second series: Nadi Shodana – purifies the nervous system by opening the energy channels
  • Third, fourth, fifth, series: Shtirabhaga – integrate the body’s inner strength

The postures (asanas) are taught in their order, following the tradition and the method of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. The teacher assists the student trough verbal explanations and physical adjustments. Every student does his/her own practice going further every time with the help and the supervision of the teacher. You can learn how to synchronize breath (Ujjayi Pranayama) and movement. Every posture is done focusing the glance in a precise point of the body (dristhi): this focus help the concentration and the meditating process. It’s suggested a regular practice, if it’s possible, and 2-3 hours of no eating before.
